1 desirable Japanese World War II Takayama Forge Navy Officer’s kai gunto sword available. This desirable katana was made by Hattori Masahiro. This Japanese sword would make an important addition to any collection.
Masahiro worked at the Takayama Prison Forge. Swords made at the Takayama Forge are highly collectible.
The oil-tempered blade measures 25 1/2″ (64.8 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. This sword has a desirable wavy hamon/temper line.
The tsuka has rayskin under the silk wrap. This IJN kai-gunto sword has a black lacquer saya.
All fittings have matching assembly numbers. The number stamped on each fitting is ‘557’.

Note the outer seppa is marked with the Naval anchor stamp, and ‘T.E.C.’ (likely a sword company).
