This sword is papered. The Spring 2019 NTHK Shinsa determined that this sword was made by Owari-Seki late generation Nobutaka during the Kanbun period of 1661-1673 A.D. 2nd and 3rd generation Nobutaka, father and son smiths both working during the Kanbun years, often worked together. The 3rd generation is a chujosaku smith; the 2nd generation is a josaku smith. The Shinsa worksheet will be provided with the sword. The formal papers will be mailed from Japan in 4 months. When they arrive I will forward them to the collector who buys this sword.
We feel that this sword was made by the 2nd generation josaku smith–so this is a serious sword. We suggest that the collector who purchases this sword send this sword to Japan for the NBTHK Shinsa. We feel confident they will attribute the sword to josaku Nobutaka.
