Old Japanese Samurai Sword -CHUJO SAKU Mitsumasa -Antique Katana Collection/th

Old Japanese Samurai Sword -CHUJO SAKU Mitsumasa -Antique Katana Collection/th
$0
1 healthy and youthful ca.1779 Shinshinto Japanese katana available. This Japanese Samurai sword would make an important acquisition for any collection.
This sword is signed by Nobukuni Mitsumasa–a 30 pt. chujo saku smith in Hawley’s. The blade is dated 1779. The blade measures 26 7/16″ (67.2 cm) from the blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the habaki.
This is a beautiful, healthy blade with no age-related or quality issues–as a Shinshinto blade should be due to its relative youth compared to older swords. No flaws of any kind can be found in the blade. The hamon and hada are perfectly executed.
This sword was just polished. This katana has a new shirasaya, and new habaki.

Antique Japanese Sword w/Rare Extra Kanji—Samurai’s Name?—Old/1844 AD

Antique Japanese Sword w/Rare Extra Kanji—Samurai’s Name?—Old/1844 AD
$0
1 antique Japanese Samurai katana available. This sword was made in 1844 A.D. This antique Japanese sword would make an important acquisition for any collection.
The sword is signed Soji Jiro Taro Fujiwara Naokatsu tsukuru kore.
The blade measures 26 3/8″ from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.
This sword has a feature I have never personally seen before. I have heard of it in a papered sword before, but hadn’t ever seen it in person. There are two kanji way down at the bottom of the nakago. The top character looks like a kao–a swordsmith’s seal. But it’s hard to say if it is a kao for sure. On the papered sword that had kanji in this same location, the Shinsa group called it an owner’s name. So the kanji could be the owner’s name–the name of the Samurai who carried this sword.
