SATSUMA/NAMINOHIRA Japanese Samurai Tanto Sword in FLUTE KOSHIRAE—Rare Mounts

SATSUMA/NAMINOHIRA Japanese Samurai Tanto Sword in FLUTE KOSHIRAE—Rare Mounts
$0
NEW ITEM!
1 antique Japanese Samurai tanto sword available. This tanto is unusual in that its mounts disguise the sword as a flute. This tanto was made by one of the Naminochira/Satsuma smiths from the late 1400’s A.D. to the late 1500’s A.D. This fine Japanese tanto sword would make an important addition to any collection.
This tanto is signed on the nakago with the smith’s name, Yasusada. The blade measures 9 1/2″ (24.1 cm) from blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the habaki. When in its flute mounts, this tanto measures 19 1/2″ (49.5 cm) overall.
The blade bears horimono on both sides–one side has clouds, the other–a dragon chasing the ball. The habaki has a thick gold gilt.
The bamboo mounts that disguise this tanto as a flute even have the ends hollowed out for several inches to complete the ruse.

PRICE JUST REDUCED!
1 antique World War II Japanese samurai army officer’s gendaito sword available. This WW2 Officer’s katana was made by Emura. Swords by Emura are highly sought-after by collectors. This sword would make an important addition to any collection.
The tang is signed ‘Emura saku’.
This sword was struck by a G.I.’s bullet. The original tsuka/handle was heavily damaged by the bullet strike so the handle was recently replaced with a different original WW2 sword handle. The original tsuka will be sent with this sword to be kept with the sword (tape is holding the same/rayskin to the bullet-damaged tsuka–using glue would make the tsuka suitable for display).
All military fittings are of excellent quality. The blade measures 25 13/16″ (65.6 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. This fine sword has a straight hamon/temper line.
The tsuba and each seppa, etc. all have the matching assembly number ‘8’.

The knife was never sharpened. The gentleman I bought this knife from met an elderly man in Pennsylvania who worked at Knife-Crafters during the War. He was told that when the War ended, so did production/completion of all fighting knives. This piece represents an interesting part of U.S. War production history.
