Rare FOLD-OVER SIGNATURE Samurai Sword -Old/Antique Collection/Japanese

Rare FOLD-OVER SIGNATURE Samurai Sword -Old/Antique Collection/Japanese
$0
1 antique Japanese Samurai wakizashi sword with hard-to-find folded-over signature available. This desirable sword would make an important addition to any collection.
The tang/nakago on this tanto has a rare folded-over signature. It’s a folded-over inlay–which is a much more difficult signature inlay. Very hard to find. This sword is signed ‘Bishu Osafune Akiyoshi Tadamitsu‘. The sayagaki (saya writing) shows Tadamitsu as well.
The blade measures 18 7/8″ (47.9 cm) from blade tip to the habaki.
The nioi-based hamon is suguha, and is exceptional. I wasn’t able to capture the hamon very well in the photos due to the old state of polish. In hand, the hamon is defined, and beautiful. With sword in hand, as your eye follows the hamon up the blade, the straight hamon splits every so often into to parallel lines for 6-9 mm–and then joins back together. Additional complexity occurs both just above the hamon, and just below. See photos 11 & 12 above for a close look at this complexity. In polish, this sword would be exceptional.

14th CENTURY Japanese Samurai Sword -Katana -Antique/OLD Collection 4 HOLE TANG

14th CENTURY Japanese Samurai Sword -Katana -Antique/OLD Collection 4 HOLE TANG
$0
1 old 14th/early 15th Century Japanese Samurai sword available. This katana would make an important addition to any collection. This sword was carried by true Samurai.
This sword was shortened as Samurai styles changed from fighting on horseback to fighting on foot. The signature was cut off when the sword was shortened centuries ago. There are 4 holes in the nakago–this sword was shortened and remounted, shortened and remounted. The kissaki/tip of the sword was just as rusty as the rest of the front portion of the sword before it was worked on. And a healthy boshi (temper line in the kissaki/tip) was revealed. So rust removal was successful in this area. The rest hasn’t been worked on yet. This early sword would be a great project piece for an amateur polisher–there is money to be made on this sword once polished. This sword is priced so that once you put in your time polishing, there is good money to be made when selling it.
The blade measures 24 13/16″ (63 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.
This sword has a brand new, $600 Japanese-made ho-wood shirasaya (storage scabbard).
