This Murphy Combat variation has an unmarked handle. This knife was sold during the war at the Berliners Inc. store in Seattle. See the stencil mark ont the back of the sheath.
This knife measures 11 3/4″ overall. The blade measures 6 1/8″ from blade tip to the nearest part of the handle.
The scabbard is an original Murphy angled throat sheath.

The sheath has the vet’s initials carved on the front of it.

This theater hatchet measures 12 3/8″ overall. The cutting edge measures just over 2 1/2″.
The handle was made with materials typically available in a foreign theater of war. The grip is made of aluminum, micarta electrical panel material, and bakelite.

The knife’s blade tang is stamped ‘WESTERN BOULDER, COLO. PAT.NO.1,967,479’. This knife measures 11 1/4″ overall. The blade itself measures 6 15/16″ to the guard. The pommel is aluminum, and the guard is brass.
Note the G.I. or Marine that carried this knife stitched a pouch with sharpening stone on the back of the scabbard. The stone has a hollowed oval with ‘NORTON’ marked in raised letters. Check out the photos for a closer look at this cool field adaption.
