1 antique World War II Imperial Japanese Army Samurai Officer’s shin-gunto sword available. The blade of this sword is from the 19th century–around 1848. The blade itself was carried by true samurai. This very fine Japanese Samurai sword would make an important addition to any collection.
This sword has the 2-character signature, Kunimori. This smith is likely the Shin-shinto maker who worked in the mid-1800’s.
This fine sword has a complex hamon/temper line with lots of activity. The hada/grain is exceptional. Look closely at the photos to view this sword’s complexity. This sword was traditionally-made during the time of the Samurai.
The blade measures 25 7/16″ (64.6 cm) from blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the habaki. The handle has the more unusual sharkskin/shagreen instead of same/rayskin. The habaki, if not all Silver, is at least Silver-gilt. The seppa, tsuba, etc. all have matching assembly numbers–’32’.
The military saya/scabbard has a rare brown/black lacquer finish.

1 antique World War II Japanese samurai army officer’s Muratato shin-gunto sword available. A sword in this condition would make an important addition to any collection.
The tang is unsigned, with painted assembly numbers on the tang. This sword is a Murata-to sword. The slender blade, the blade’s curvature, blade length (this sword has the exact length as my last Muratato), and the bohi groove all say ‘Muratato‘. Murata Tsuneyoshi developed the “new Japanese-European combined sword system”.
All military fittings are of excellent quality. The seppa, tsuba, etc. all have the matching assembly numbers ’55’. The blade measures 25 11/16″ from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. This fine sword has a metal brown/green-lacquered scabbard.
