This Gerber is serial number ‘002002’. The soldier who carried this knife camouflaged it for in-country carry in combat. He purchased Gerber’s bluing kit when he bought this knife. The sheath has the 2-line Gerber stamp, and the right-hand keeper strap. The sheath also has the early staples instead of rivets.
The second photo, of a U.S. Special Forces soldier in Vietnam, was provided to show the type of Special Forces camo pattern which a soldier applied to this knife’s sheath–and also to show the type of Special Forces man who would have carried such a knife–bad-ass.
