This important variation of the Nguyen Dan knife measures 12 13/8″ overall. The blade itself measures 7″. The leather sheath is secured with aluminum rivets. This vintage Randall measures 12 5/16″ overall. The blade itself measures 7 1/2″. The blade is stamped ‘RANDALL MADE ORLANDO, FLA.‘. The brass guard has two holes. The brass pommel has the optional compass mounted in it.
The scabbard is stamped ‘RANDALL MADE KNIVES ORLANDO, FLA.‘.

1 very rare Randall BC Vietnam fighting knife available. This fine private purchase U.S. fighting knife would make an exceedingly rare addition to any collection.
This knife can be see on page 91 of Mike Silvey’s Knives of the United States Military in Vietnam. Randall could not fill all of the orders for fighting knives during the Vietnam War, so they offered this knife Fairbairn-Sykes British commando knife. Randall discarded the F-S sheath, and put these knives in a Johnson roughback Randall sheath with the back stamp ‘B C’.
This knife measures 11 1/2″ overall. The blade itself measures 6 5/8″. The guard is marked ‘ENGLAND’.

Hardy’s book MACV SOG Team History of a Clandestine Army IV. This premium ID’d set of SOG Recon knives would make the centerpieces in any Vietnam fighting knives or U.S. militaria collection.
This premium collection comes with the following pieces:
- 2 SOG Recon knives
- original, hand-written letter from the SOG/MACV soldier, Sgt. Lawrence M. Predmore
- copy of the book in which Sgt. Predmore is featured, MACV SOG Team History of a Clandestine Army IV
- copy of the book Knives of the U.S. Special Forces by Tom Clinton
- modern repro Special Forces Sgt. Predmore’s Illinois Recon patch (the collector just wanted the grouping to have a patch since he wasn’t able to buy one from Sgt. Predmore)
The first SOG knife is a Type III with iron hilt and pommel, with a blue blade (pg.9 Clinton book). This knife is sterile, and has a type 4 sheath with the pocket for the sharpening stone removed. This knife measures 10 9/16″ overall. The blade itself measures 6 1/8″.
The second SOG knife is a Type II with brass hilt and pommel, with a plum-colored blade (pg.8 Clinton book). This knife is marked with the serial number ‘2048’. There are white spacers in the handle. This knife has a type 1 sheath with sharpening stone. This knife measures 10 1/2″ overall. The blade itself measures 6″.
