You can see a knife just like this on page 80 of Mike Silvey’s book Knives of the United States Military–World War II.
This fine combat knife is stamped on the blade ‘L. BAKER‘. The handle is made of leather. This knife has a steel guard, and a lead pommel. This knife measures 11 13/16″ overall. The blade itself measures 6 7/16″. The scabbard is a period World War II sheath.

1 U.S. First Special Service Forces World War II V42 fighting knife. This fine Case V42 has the desirable long sheath. This knife would make an important addition to any collection.
The reverse blade tang is marked ‘U. S. 437‘. The front tang is stamped ‘CASE‘. This Case V42 measures 12 7/16″ overall. The blade itself measures 7 1/4″.
This knife is ID’d, and researchable. Many collectors like to be able to research the history of the soldier that carried a knife. The long sheath is marked on its front with the soldier’s name and serial #. The soldier’s name looks to be ‘Van Kreisher’. His serial # looks like ‘3719791’, or ‘3719991’.

1 vintage World War II Case stiletto combat knife with extremely rare long scabbard. This fine U.S. Case stiletto fighting knife, with its rare long sheath, would make an important addition to any collection.
This unmarked version Case stiletto measures 11 7/16″ overall. The blade itself measures 7″. The rare long sheath is ID’d on the back with the name of the soldier that carried this knife ‘DeDakis O-265422‘. Many collectors of military items like to purchase ID’d pieces. The service record, rank, theater of operations, etc. of the soldier can be researched by the collector.
The V-42 style long sheath measures 19 13/16″ in length.

The scabbard is stamped ‘M.S.’ on the upper and lower fitting. The green leather portion of the scabbard is stamped ‘JEWELL – 1918‘.

This knife has its original Anderson scabbard. This knife measures 13 3/8″ overall. The blade itself measures 8 3/8″. The handle reads on one side ‘ANDERSON GLENDALE, CALIFORNIA‘. This writing was mostly ground off by the G.I. that carried this knife. The ‘MADE IN U.S.A.’ markings on the reverse side of the handle were completely removed.

The blade is from a German-made U.S. Union Civil War sword. The blade tang is stamped ‘W. CLAUBERG SOLINGEN‘. The Clauberg knight image is also stamped on the tang. The blade has etched filigree designs.
This knife measures 12 5/8″ overall. The blade itself measures 7″. This knife has its original KnifeCrafters sheath with it.

1 rare U.S. World War II aluminum handle Barteaux Commando fighting knife. Interestingly, the ‘COMMANDO’ and ‘USA’ handle markings on this knife are legible, but not clear. It doesn’t appear to just be from wear–it’s almost like Barteaux decided to remove the markings from his handle die, and only mostly removed the markings from it.
This knife measures 9 3/4″ overall. The knife blade itself measures 5 1/8″. The scabbard is a ‘U.S.N’-marked sheath from a 5″ Mark 1 fighting knife.
