The knife offered here is a fine example of this combat model. The handle and sheath have matching serial numbers ‘368’. The wood handle is stamped on each side with this number. In addition, the soldier marked his initials on the handle ‘MP’. The blade has the mark ‘BCD‘ engraved in electric pencil.
This knife has a brass pommel and an iron guard. One side of the blade is flat on these knives. The other side has a raised middle ridge. The short cabbard is made in the same style as the early M3 trench knife’s M6 scabbard. There are two lines/marks on the keeper strap–perhaps to further identify the knife to the soldier.
There is a collector’s number painted on the pommel of the knife, and on the back plate of the scabbard.
