1 U.S. World War 2 Richtig fighting knife available. This big 8″ Richtig fighting knife would make an important addition to any U.S. military or world militaria collection.
This knife was made by a legend in knife-making. Frank Richtig had a secret steel tempering process that allowed him to slice through railroad spikes and automobile leaf springs. Frank would demonstrate this at county fairs–after slicing a railroad spike or leaf spring, he would slice through a piece of paper with the same knife. Frank earned himself a spot in a ‘Ripley’s Believe It or Not’ magazine in the 1930’s. These knives can be used for decades, because of Frank’s superior craftsmanship.
This big fighter measures 12 7/8″ overall. The blade itself measures 8″. The guard and pommel are brass. The extended lanyard ring was hammered flatter during the War. The pommel is stamped ‘F.J.R. CLARKSON NEB.’. There is no sheath with this knife. I recommend the collector purchase a period World War 2 sheath for an 8″ knife to go with it.
There are 3 notches carved into the guard–sometimes notches like this are meant to record how many enemy kills a soldier had.

IDd—WILKINSON SWORD WW2 2nd Pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Fighting Knife/F-S

IDd—WILKINSON SWORD WW2 2nd Pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Fighting Knife/F-S
$0
1 vintage World War II 2nd pattern Wilkinson Sword Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife available. F/S commando knives like these were carried by U.S. G.I.’s and paratroopers, and by British Commandos in Europe during World War II. Some U.S. combat troops staging in England would purchase these knives to carry in addition to, or as replacement for their M3 trench knife. This fighting knife would make a fine addition to any World War II, or world militaria collection.
This Wilkinson knife is ID’d/named to the G.I. that carried it. The blade is etched ‘HUGH R BORRIES‘. Some basic research was done to confirm the G.I.’s enlistment in the Army (see photo 10 above).
This knife measures 11 11/16″ overall. The blade itself measures 6 5/8″. The front tang is etched ‘THE F-S FIGHTING KNIFE‘. The reverse tang is stamped ‘WILKINSON SWORD LONDON‘. There are no markings on the guard.
