1 vintage U.S. World War II Shipley knuckle knife. An iconic Shipley knuckle knife like this one was chosen by author Mike Silvey to adorn the back cover of his book, Knives of the United States Military–World War II. This rare knife would make a fine addition to any collection.
This WWII fighting knife has a brass knuckle guard and aluminum skull crusher pommel. The blade is especially long on this example measuring 7 1/2″ in length. Overall this knife measures 12 3/4″. There is no sheath with this knife.

This style of Stelzig knuckle knife can be seen in Mike Silvey’s book U.S. Military Knives – World War 2. This Stelzig knife measures 12 3/4″ overall. The blade itself measures 8 1/16″. Note the weighted skull crusher pommel on this Stelzig’s WWI Mark 1 trench knife style handle.
The scabbard is stamped on its belt loop ‘STELZIG SADDLERY CO. HOUSTON, TEXAS‘. The sheath is also ID’d on the back–the vet’s serial #: ‘P5312‘ is stenciled in black.
