This tanto is unsigned. It has a genuine Japanese blade.
Cloisonne koshirae/mounts are very rare. The mounts on this cloisonne tanto are all intricately-carved brass.
The blade measures 9″ (22.9 cm) from blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the habaki.

1 rare U.S. World War II aluminum handle Kennedy Arms/Moore fighting knife available. I have been listing a number of different variations of Kennedy Arms fighting knives–and this is yet another version. This knife differs from the other in that it is a 6″ blade version. A Kennedy Arms knife would make a rare addition to any premium collection.
The blade on this fine combat knife measures 5 5/8″ long. This knife measures 10 1/16″ overall. The handle is marked ‘MOORE MPLS‘. The original sheath is stamped ‘KENNEDY BROS. ARMS CO. ST. PAUL‘.
Moore made these knives for Kennedy Bros. Arms. I spoke with Moore’s son a while back. His dad would give him an order of completed knives to deliver from Moore’s shop in Minneapolis to Kennedy Arms in St. Paul. He would take the street car to get them there.
This knife is ID’d on the handle with the vet’s name ‘D.E.W.‘.

This V-44 fighting knife is ID’d on the scabbard with the soldier’s name ‘CRUMLEY‘.
This V-44 was made by Collins. The blade is stamped ‘COLLINS & CO. HARTFORD No. 18’. This knife measures 14 5/16″ overall. The blade itself measures 9 5/8″. This knife has a brass guard, and green horn handle. The Collins scabbard is stamped ‘COLLINS & Co. LEGITIMUS 13’.

1 vintage World War II 2nd pattern Fairbairn-Sykes commando knife w/scabbard. This knife is in rare condition. A 2nd pattern British commando knife in this condition would make an important addition to any collection.
This F/S knife measures 11 13/16″ overall. The blade itself measures 6 7/8″. The guard is marked with the British broad arrow, and a ‘B‘. The guard is also stamped ‘ENGLAND‘. The scabbard has its elastic keeper strap. The top of the scabbard is also stamped ‘ENGLAND’.

The original sheath is stamped ‘KENNEDY BROS. ARMS CO. ST. PAUL‘.

1 vintage U.S. World War 2 Western L77 Stiletto fighting knife. This desirable U.S. fighting knife would make an important addition to any collection.
This Western L77 Stiletto fighting knife has the very rare, highly collectible hanger-type sheath. The Marine Corps officer who carried this knife marked his name on the front of the scabbard ‘LT. E.J. BECKER‘. The back of the scabbard is also stenciled with his name.
The collector who I bought this knife from obtained the Officer’s service record through the U.S. Freedom of Information Act. The Officer was an aviator who was killed during an attack on the island of New Britain. The Officer’s service record will, of course, accompany this knife.
The knife’s blade tang is stamped ‘WESTERN BOULDER, COLO. PAT.NO.1,967,479‘. This knife measures 11 1/4″ overall. The blade itself measures 6 15/16″ to the guard. The pommel and guard on this knife are made of orange bakelite.

The handle is marked on both sides ‘HERDER PHILA. COMMANDO‘. The scabbard is also marked. The G.I. that carried this knife didn’t want the back wire to get in the way on his Herder knife, so there is not one on this knife.
