The book Buckmaster Knives by Richard Neyman identifies this knife as Variation #1 of the Buckmaster. This knife was made in 1985.

The original purchaser of this knife had a fine custom sheath made for this knife by Savage Sheaths of Saxis, VA (the Buck Custom Shop did not sell this knife with a sheath originally).

A desirable Buck Custom Shop Pat. Pend. 184 Buckmaster knife available. This Buckmaster was customized at the Buck Custom Shop by Leroy Remer when he was at Buck in 1986. This awesome Custom Buckmaster knife would make a rare addition to any collection.
All parts of this knife were mirror-polished. This knife is number 2 of only 2 made. The other knife of the 2 was made by Leroy for Buck sales rep, John Gaybrook.
This Certificate of Authenticity bears the original signature of Leroy Remer who made this knife while he was in the BUCK Custom Shop in 1986.

A rare desirable Buck Custom Shop knife available. This Buck knife is a PROTOTYPE that was never produced. It is a variation of the model 185 Buckmaster LT (aka Buck skeleton knife). Note the LT has a flared guard, which this knife does not. This awesome Custom Buckmaster knife would make a rare addition to any collection.
This Special Project knife is number 002 (a member of the Buck family always gets serial number 001). This knife has serial number 002, because it was made for 30 year Buck sales rep, John Gabrick.
This knife has a bead-blast finish.
This knife has a Letter of Authenticity from Buck Sales rep, John Gabrick.
This is a rare Buck knife.
