Antique-WW2-Japanese-Sword-WW-II-Navy-Samurai-Naval-MASAHIRO-Takayama-Forge

Antique-WW2-Japanese-Sword-WW-II-Navy-Samurai-Naval-MASAHIRO-Takayama-Forge
$0
1 desirable Japanese World War II Takayama Forge Navy Officer’s Samurai sword available. This highly sought after katana was made by Hattori Masahiro. This Japanese sword would make an important addition to any collection.
Swords made at the Takayama Forge are highly collectible. In addition, Masahiro made swords in a distinctive ‘old way’. He made swords with a kissaki that was almost 3 times thicker than a normal katana’s kissaki. During World War 2, only Masahiro, and perhaps Masanao (at the Takayama Forge) made swords with this type of kissaki. This type of sword tip was made to reduce the likelihood of a break or chip at the blade tip. A sword made by Masahiro is of exceptional rarity.
There are an unusually high number of kanji on the nakago. The nakago/tangi is signed ‘Kin Saku Takayama to Hattori Masahiro’. The lower left side of the nakago is signed with the polisher’s name. The oil-tempered ‘no rust steel’ blade measures 25 5/16″ (64.3 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. The nakago has an especially large Naval anchor stamp. An additional distinguishing feature of a Masahiro blade is the distinctive ratio of nakago length to overall sword length.
The tsuka has black leather under the silk wrap. The saya is made of premium sharkskin. The gold gilt on all sword fittings is still 90%+. A fine sarute is present.
This sword has a highly collectible Navy Officer’s Sword Belt with it.

RARE VARIATION Japanese FORESTRY DIRK WW II -Old/Antique Samurai Sword/Dagger

RARE VARIATION Japanese FORESTRY DIRK WW II -Old/Antique Samurai Sword/Dagger

1 rare World War II Japanese Samurai Forestry Dirk available. This Japanese dirk is the most rare of all Japanese dirks. It is one of just 3 or 4 of this Forestry Dagger variation known to exist. This dagger would make an exceptionally rare addition to any collection.
The blade measures 7 3/4″ (28.9 cm). This dagger measures 12 1/2″ overall.
All fittings are of exceptional quality. Note the fine horn mekugi/peg. As mentioned, only 3 or 4 of this pattern dagger with brass and gilt fittings are known to exist–all others have nickel fittings. In fact, the only place this variation appears in reference books is in Fuller & Gregory’s book–and at that, only a drawing of this variation appears in that publication.
This is a rare variation Forestry dagger.

CUSTOM ORDER Japanese WW II Samurai Sword -DATED DAY OF PEARL HARBOR

CUSTOM ORDER Japanese WW II Samurai Sword -DATED DAY OF PEARL HARBOR
$0
$3,000 or best offer
1 very fine World War 2 gendai sword available. This is an exceptional Special Order sword. This sword is signed on the nakago ‘Tame Yoshi Gawa uji Harukunu saku kore’–made for Mr. Yoshigawa by Harukuni. A special order sword is a desirable piece.
While I was at the Minneapolis Sword Show, Chris Bowen pointed out to me the exceptional quality of this sword–I hadn’t even noticed prior to our conversation. He pointed out to me the utsuri in the blade–a characteristic typically seen in only the best Kamakura/Nanbokucho swords.
This long katana measures 27 9/16″ from blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the mune/spine. This sword is dated on the reverse side of the nakago Dec. 8th, 1941–the Japanese date of the attack on Pearl Harbor (due to the Intl Date Line; so Dec. 7, 1941 in Honolulu).
For those of you who viewed the original listing of this sword–I had originally described it as having been dedicated the day after Pearl Harbor, but I received comments from a number of WW2 enthusiasts that in Japan, due to the International Date Line, Dec. 8th is the date of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
This handmade sword has its habaki with no other mounts.

The carving on this sword isn’t of the ordinary variety–work like this is done by only the very best carvers. This ca.1846 Samurai sword would make an important addition to any collection.

Antique Japanese Samurai Tanto Sword -ARMOR PIERCER/Old Collection/Dagger/Knife

Antique Japanese Samurai Tanto Sword -ARMOR PIERCER/Old Collection/Dagger/Knife
$0
1 very fine Japanese Samurai Tanto sword with thick armor-piercing blade. This sword was carried by true Samurai. This ca.1863 Samurai tanto would make an important addition to any collection.
This antique Samurai tanto is signed on the nakago/tang: ‘Masamune 20th Generation Soshu Tsunehiro‘. Tsunehiro of Soshu wrote of his familial connection to the master Masamune on the nakago. I guarantee the signature. The reverse side of the nakago is dated 1863.
This sword has a deep 4″ turnback in the boshi.
The blade measures 11 7/8″ (30.2 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. The value of this sword is in the blade. This sword is in such great polish, that the blade can justifiably be put straight into shirasaya with no need for polish. The mounts are ok, so while the mounts make a nice little package, they shouldn’t be overstated. The fuchi/kashira have a floral pattern, the tsuba is iron, and the menuki are WW2 Army–so this sword was carried during World War 2 as well.
This sword is especially thick at the mune measuring a full 3/8″ (1 cm) thick.
