This katana is in Samurai mounts. The openwork tsuba is quite old. Note the large kozuka ana/opening–made for an okozuka. Okozuka are the very early, extra large sized kozuka (kogatana handles). The fuchi/kashira are matching. The tsuka is unique–it is made of leather, and was likely done sometime early in the late 19th or early 20th century–perhaps as late as WW2. Interestingly, one side of the tsuka is carved ‘Kanemoto’.
The blade has two bohi grooves on either side of the blade. The blade’s temper line/hamon is sanbonsugi (three cedars).
